Most of our children arrive having received little or no education.
At the Centre, illiterate or semi illiterate children are placed into our in-house, rapid literacy program where they are taught the basics of Khmer reading and writing.
Only after having passed the elementary exam are they allowed to progress onto primary and secondary schooling.
Some children will never go to a government school as they may be simply too old to attend grade 3. These children are moved into the Centre’s in-house English language studies and Computer training classes which operate 6 days week 8am – 5pm.
Children attending government school which is located close to the Centre, attend primary school from 7.30 am to 11.00 am or 1 pm to 4.30 pm daily (alternating monthly).
Children attending Secondary school study from 8 am to 5 pm, 6 days week at a local government school.
Some children are fortunate enough to have a sponsor who meets his or her private English class fees and are held after normal school hours.
We recognize our children’s progress through awards and other incentives as these are major parts of the CCD approach to helping children learn. Kids who are most improved or top of the class receive personalized certificates at the end of each month.

Football Training Clinic
We have recently commenced a football (soccer) training clinic at the Centre, held every Sunday morning. The clinic is conducted by an ex-pat football trainer who takes the kids through their paces for a couple of hours showing them the finer points of football tactics.
The boys initially thought this was a bit of a joke but now treat the session very seriously as they are learning something new and some may have potential for bigger things!
